Oct 19, 2008 – Newport, RI

When we left Biddeford, Maine we stopped for two days in Massachusetts at the Hanscomb Air Force Base. We started the day by taking the dogs to the doggy day care. It was their first trip to day care. I thought they were so excited going on this journey and only wish they could have told us how much it meant to them. I think you can tell from the picture that they are begging to go.

We then took a Trolley tour into Boston for the day. It was actually a good way to see the city but we really needed to have more time to go back and see some of the stuff up close. We went to Mike’s Pastry’s to start the day. It is known world wide and supposed to have the best cannolis in the world. I wasn’t impressed but the guys were.

We then started the tour. Some of the buildings were built as early as 1713 and the cemeteries dated back to 1660. We did quite a bit of walking and even climbed 294 steps at Bunker Hill in the monument. We paid for that for the next three days with sore muscles in our legs!

Before leaving the city for the night we went to Giacomo's, a small Italian place that was recommended to us by a nurse on the subway. I figured it had to be good if a nurse recommended it. It was a tiny restaurant and the people were crammed in. Great food and an experience that I am glad we had.

By the end of the day we were all very tired, especially the dogs. They climbed up on the chairs and did not move until the next day.


We took a day tour up to Providence Rhode Island to see the Capitol. It was very small but beautiful both inside and out.





From there we drove less than 100 miles to Rhode Island. We are on the Navy base over looking the ocean. What a beautiful site. We have taken a couple of day tours here.




The weather is getting colder and today it was freezing when we woke up. We need to be moving south faster. We filled up the diesel and got on our way. We were amazed and so excited to be paying only $3.69/ gallon. What is wrong with us when we think this is a good price? Tomorrow we go to New York.
